Mahashivarathri Yatra 2019

Mahashivarathri ‘The Great Night of Shiva’ is a very significant celebration in the Hindu Spiritual calendar. This year a number of devotees of the SBSRBY Universal Peace Mission, Malaysia went to the Devarayasamudra (DSM) Ashram to celebrate Mahashivarathri with their Guru, His Holiness Shri Shiva Rudra Balayogi Maharaj.

Every morning during the week-long Yatra, devotees started their day with morning mantra chants and the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa in the presence of Shri Babaji and then participating in the morning Abishegam for the Shivalingam and Shri Swamiji’s statue.

Among the events leading up to Mahashivarathri day were the Special Abishegam conducted by Shri Babaji in the Ashram Temple, Maha Agni Hotra at a devotee’s home in Kolar, the inauguration of the new Old Folks Home built on the grounds of the Bangalore Ashram, special dance performance by a group of blind youths, and another Maha Agni Hotra at the DSM Ashram on the eve of Mahashivarathri.

On Mahashivarathri day, the temple priests conducted the Maha Agni Hotra at the Ashram Temple. Late evening the Oorvalam for Girija Kalyanotsava began with devotees carrying the ceremonial offerings on trays accompanying the beautifully decorated chariot bearing the deities. Shri Babaji lead the entourage to the Ashram. Once Girija Kalyanotsava ended it was midnight and the Special Abishegam for the Shivalingam was conducted by Shri Babaji. Throughout the night devotees sang bhajans. Aarthi was performed at the break of dawn and blessed prasad was served.

On the final day of the yatra, the devotees spent the morning in meditation in the presence of Shri Babaji. Then it was a Q n A session with Babaji. Truly this meditation and satsang session in Babaji’s presence was a spiritual bonus. Late evening, with heavy heart devotees left DSM Ashram, with the silent prayer in their hearts that they are given the grace to celebrate 2020 Mahashivarathri in Babaji’s presence.
